Reclaim SOL from empty token accounts
Every time you buy a new token on Solana, your wallet opens a token account for it, and that account holds a small SOL deposit called rent. When you sell everything, the account stays open and the SOL stays locked. Active memecoin traders can have hundreds of these.
How much is locked?
A standard SPL token account holds about 0.00204 SOL. Token-2022 accounts with extensions can hold a little more. After 500 trades that's roughly 1 SOL sitting in empty accounts.
How to get it back
- In MAD: the wallet tools reclaim rent from closed token accounts without leaving the chat or the app.
- Anywhere else: an account can be closed once its balance is zero. Closing sends the rent back to your wallet.
Things to watch for
- Dust blocks closing. An account with even a tiny leftover balance can't be closed until that dust is sold or burned.
- Token-2022 accounts must be closed through the Token-2022 program, not the old token program. Tools that only know one will skip the other.
- Don't count rent as profit. If your wallet balance jumps after a clean-up, that's your own deposits coming back, not trading gains.
- Beware "claim free SOL" sites. Some rent-reclaim sites are drainers. Never sign a transaction you don't understand.

Is reclaimed rent trading profit?
No. It's your own deposit coming back.
